Studies on Biometrics and Sports Medicine (Report No. 2)

Abstract
Authors, in order to secure the physical condition and strength of a group as a whole more accurately, studied several correlations existed among Strength Power, Rohrer¢¥s Index, Nutrition Index and changes of Pulse and Blood Pressure after exercise, and compared them with the formerly reported data.
99 cases of newly graduated medical service air men from the three months military trainingcourse were used.
The results of the study are as follows:
1) strength of back muscles averages 105.5Kg. by twice measurement but this datum might be less accurate than three time measurement which was formerly used.
2) Body Surface Area averages 1.62¡¾0.079m2
3) Vital capacity is most closely correlated with the Body Surface Area as formerly reported,
henceforth, Vital Capacity should be presented and compared by vital Capacity index.
4) Physical strength has the closest correlation with the Grasping Power (Sum), which coincides with the former reports.
5) The average value of the Rohrer¢¥s Index is 119.7¡¾12.0.
This index and proportional Girth-chest as the Nutritional Index are not closely correlated with muscle Power.
6) Considerable number of the object showed the negative phases in the exercise Test (Back and Leg Dynamometer Pulling and Knee-Bending).
The reason is not certain either it is due to military training or vasomotor instability.
